School-Based Mental Health Services Grant Program
U.S. Department of Education
Eligibility: State educational agencies (SEAs), as defined in 20 U.S.C. 7801(49), or local educational agencies (LEAs), as defined in 20 U.S.C. 7801(30), including consortia of LEAs. Nonpublic K-12 schools are not eligible.
Award amount: $500,000 to $3,000,000 per-year
Awards available: 15–25
Application deadline: May 31, 2024
Description: The purpose of the SBMH grant program is to provide competitive grants to State educational agencies (SEAs), local educational agencies (LEAs), and consortia of LEAs to increase the number of credentialed mental health services providers providing school-based mental health services to students in LEAs with demonstrated need.
Echos Mini Grants
The Character Council of Western New York
Eligibility: Public and Non-Public Schools within the 8 counties of WNY
(Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming)
Grant amount: $500
Application deadline: June 30, 2024
Description: The purpose of this mini grant is to provide financial support of character-based initiatives within the school, organization or community. Programs/projects should ideally seek to be sustainable, ongoing or create a long-lasting outcome.
Strategies to Support Children Exposed to Violence

Eligibility: Public- and state-controlled institutions of higher education; Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; Private institutions of higher education; Private institutions of higher education; Independent school districts
Award amount: Up to $850,000

Description: This program seeks to provide funding to communities to develop coordinated and comprehensive community-based approaches to help children and their families who are exposed to violence build resilience, restore their safety, heal their social and emotional wounds, and prevent future violence and delinquency. This program focuses on building protective factors for children exposed to violence; increasing access to and providing evidence-based, culturally specific, trauma-informed specialized services/intervention(s) to support children and families who are impacted; as well as the sustainment of this work.
